Portland's historic Union Station is located on the edge of downtown in the trendy Pearl District. Just one block south of Union Station, visitors enter "Fareless Square," a ride-for-free transit zone that encompasses all of downtown Portland and much of "the Pearl." Visitors can board any southbound bus on the transit mall and take a free five-minute ride into the heart of the city. Once downtown, visitors can walk to most hotels - Portland's pedestrian-friendly blocks are half the size of other major cities, so walking is a breeze.

• Daily arrivals from the north (Seattle/Tacoma) are at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. (Sunday only), 2:05 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 8:52 p.m.
• The above arrivals depart Seattle/Tacoma at 7:30/8:18 a.m., 8/8:48 a.m. (Sunday only), 10/10:53 a.m., 1:45/2:33 p.m. and 5:25/6:13 p.m.
• Daily arrivals from the south (Eugene, Ore.) are at 8:20 a.m., 11:35 a.m., 3:40 p.m. and 5:25 p.m.
• The above arrivals depart Eugene at 5:45 a.m., 9 a.m., 12:44 p.m. and 2:50 p.m.
• Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach: Daily arrivals from the south are at 4:15 p.m. (Coach departs Eugene at 1:45 p.m.)
