The 34th Seattle International Film Festival kicks off with the premiere of Battle in Seattle, a gripping dramatization of events that rocked the world when Seattle was host to the World Trade Organization. The evening unfolds at Seattle Center's Marion Oliver McCaw Hall with a red carpet welcome for expected guests Charlize Theron and Martin Henderson, stars of the film, and director Stuart Townsend.
Spring's high point, SIFF brings Seattle audiences a chance to participate in the largest and most highly attended film festival in the country. Each year they attract directors, actors, and critics from all over the world who participate in special events, post-film Q and A sessions, and provocative forums.
SIFF brings unique films from every corner of the globe to Northwest filmgoers. The festival includes gala premieres, new films from first-time and well-known directors, sneak previews, and special archival programs. Audiences see many films months before they reach general distribution and many that will never be screened here again.
